Things to do immediately once your drive stops working or responding.1. Stop using your device. Once your device begins acting up, it's generally a sign that your thumb drive may stop working entirely VERY soon! Also, using a damaged drive can cause further damage depending on the problem.
2. This is important. Please do not attempt to fix (a.k.a. further damage) the drive! Typically, the response is to hand off the drive to just anyone with a soldering iron who thinks they can help. The gesture is noble indeed.
However, a soldering iron in the hands of an inexperienced individual can often damage & cause irreperable harm to the drive. Think of it this way, handing over a scapel to just anyone is not a good idea.
In the hands of a surgeon, the tool is used to save lives. In the hands of anyone else it typically just amputates limbs (they like to hack away thinking they're "fixing" it).Resources & Information
